This is the end guys. The staff has decided to pack it in. Part of it is having the original Brawl community that built us lose interest in the game, part of it is the staff itself starting to lose interest in continuing the site.
The forums will stay up, the chat will stay up. They will all keep going so they community will be able to continue to keep in touch. But the main site won’t have news anymore, and there won’t be anymore staff run tournaments.
Have fun guys.
First to the Superbowl Ads poll from last week, the Heroes Football ad was easily voted in.
Now for this week, with the New York Comic Con rolling around, we’ve gotten a lot of non-Nintendo news sites get a chance to play hands-on with the Conduit. And while they gave plenty of praise to the game, they also held back. Many of them wished that it just had standard controls, some even went so far as to wish that it would come out on a 360 or PS3 instead so it could properly use the available power. So, what do you guys think?
The Wii Motion controls look awesome in The Conduit, don’t change a thing.
I wish the controls would let you use a standard control as well as Wiimote controls.
I wish The Conduit was coming out on a 360 or PS3 so it could have proper graphics and online support.

Nintendo World Report has the story, reporting that The Conduit will not support split screen multiplayer. High Voltage wanted to do LAN multiplayer, however, Nintendo shot down that idea. High Voltage also confirmed a solid release date for The Conduit: June 9th.
In other High Voltage news, Animales de la Muerte has hit a stumbling block, it seems the game is just too big for WiiWare’s 40MB limitation. For now, the project has been shelved, though it may see a disc release later.

The latest Nintendo Power has confirmed that the next iteration of Virtua Tennis will not only be coming to the Wii, but will also support Wii MotionPlus. We already know that the version of Virtua Tennis 09 for other consoles will support Singles, Doubles, Mixed-Doubles, and World Tour with online leaderboards. We’ll just have to wait for more details.
Virtua Tennis 09 for those other consoles is set for May, but no date for the Wii has been confirmed yet.

The New York Comic Con has had it’s first day come to a close, and already there is a wave of new media and impressions coming in for the Sega & Rockstar games coming to the Wii & DS.

Go Nintendo has a gruesome and impressive video, featuring what I believe is the first public demo of Madworld for the Nintendo Wii, scheduled to release March 6th.
Kotaku & Joystiq got a chance to try out the first public demo of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS, scheduled to release March 17th. Kotaku was impressed by the use of lock on targetting to make it easier to shoot enemies, though was annoyed by the camera occasionally being blocked by a building. Joystiq also praised the ability of Rockstar to pull of driving with a D-pad, by creating a system that will slightly guide your car around corners and cars.
IGN got their hands on with Sonic & The Black Knight. The game has you automatically zipping along as you would in Sonic & The Secret Rings, but you use the control stick to move left and right. A swing of the Wiimote let’s you attack enemies that will appear in front of Sonic. IGN complained about the frequency of this waggle attack, wishing it were mapped to a button instead. You’ll be able collect unlockable items through out the game (247 in all) and trade them with friends over WiFi. You’ll also be able to post your best times or highest scores on online leaderboards. While there is multiplayer mode where you can team up with or fight against a buddy in a small arena where you face off against some of the game’s enemies, this mode is local only. Sonic & The Black Knight is scheduled for a March 10th release.

Please note that this information should be put in the context of a rumor. The source is the latest Jump Magazine, but since we don’t have actual scans there is no way to confirm it.
We already know you’ll be able to play cooperatively with up to 4 players over WiFi, but now it seems Square Enix will also support shopping for items online, and downloadable quests.
Items up for buy include rare products as well as normal items available at discount pricing. Square Enix will be updating the product lineup daily and plans special holiday commemorative items and events.
The article goes on to mention that each player’s online list will be unique, to encourage you to connect to a friend’s game and check their list to see if there’s any rare items. As for the downloadable quests, Square Enix is promising to have new quests available from day one and will continue to support them for a year. These quests include monster hunting, treasure hunting, or even an occasional sub-story. All of this appears to be free of charge (especially since there is currently no simple way of charging users for DLC on the DS).
Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS has not been given a set release date other than “TBA 2009″.

Go Nintendo managed to get involved in a conference call over Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, and came away with an extremely large list of details.

The online details included:
Reconfirmation of the ability to “share” units with friends.
The ability to send five of your units into battle against a human opponent
An online store you access through Nintendo WiFi where you can purchase new items (with in-game money).
A few other interesting details I saw:
You’ll be able to control the entire game with either a touch screen only interface, or a button only interface.
Nintendo is interested in re-making more Fire Emblems (dependent on the success of this one).
Fire Emblem is scheduled to release in the U.S. on February 16th.

WiiWare-World has reported on three WiiWare games coming out in Europe soon. Snowboard Riot has already come out in America, but the other two are newly confirmed.
Onslaught is a first person shooter where you fend off enemies, complete missions, and move on with the story. Update: this article previously had an error, the WiFi play is 4 player Coop, not multiplayer. I apologize for the error. The Wiimote is used to aim, and a shake of it will reload. A shake of the nunchuck will also throw grenades.

Adventure Island has been a rumored remake for a while. This appears to be an effort to revive the franchise, however, it will not be done Mega Man style (AKA, the graphics won’t be retro).
Onslaught is scheduled to release in Europe in March, and Adventure Island is scheduled to release in Europe in April. Neither have U.S. release dates yet.

Pokemon.com has officially announced the release date of Pokemon Platinum for March 22nd. Pokemon Platinum serves as an update to Diamond and Pearl, offering a new WiFi plaza where players can enjoy games and activity. There’s also a new Vs Recorder, that also uses WiFi.

Tenchu: Shadow Assassin is a game that hasn’t been advertised a lot, but has potential to be some real fun, especially if your a fan of these stealth action games. Sneak around with Rikimaru and Ayame using Wii motion controls to dodge into bushes and sneak by right under enemies noses. It’s a solid game, that you should really give it a shot.
